March’s note from the District Chairman

I want to congratulate you and your units on achieving the Gold Award on the Journey to Excellence for the George Mason District. Thank you and now we must get going for next year and do our best to achieve it next year. The National Capitol Area Council also received the the Gold Award.

The Friends of Scouting ( FOS) campaign is off to a good start. If your troop or unit hasn’t scheduled their presentations yet, please do so immediately. This year’s goal is $60,000.00. We were a couple of thousand dollars short last year, so let’s try to make our goal this year as you and your units did a couple of years ago.

We have our District Dinner coming up on May 10th, so get your tickets for this great event. Contact Pat Berney for your tickets.

The National Area Council now has 13 Troops going to the National Jamboree this summer. Also camping slots for Goshen are quickly filling up. So if your unit hasn’t secured their week for camp, you need to do so immediately.

Yours in Scouting.
