It is that time of year again: Rechartering Season. As all of you unit leaders know, we are in the process of re-chartering, this must be completed by February 28, 2012. To date, only 9 recharter packages have been turned in to council.Unit leaders should all be engaged in this re-chartering process. Let’s make it happen today! Along with the re-chartering process, your JTE in Scouting should have been turned in to the District Commissioner, Shawn Ireland by February 15th. If you have not yet turned in your scorecard, please send it to Shawn as soon as possible.
We have received our new Friends of Scouting Goals for 2013. This year’s total Friends of Scouting goal is $60,500. Our Family Scouting goal this year is $45,000.00, to date we have collected $12,095, or 26.9%of our goal. Our Community goal is $15,000, to date we have collected $10,150, or 68% of our goal. Last year the Community campaign was named the “Scouter Campaign”, this year it has been renamed but is still the same.
Remember that this money is used to support scouting in our community, helps provide maintenance and improvements in our camps, Snyder and Goshen, allows the council to provide Join Scouting Night supplies and Eagle awards and allows the council to do background checks and leader trainings . If you haven’t scheduled the “Friends for Scouting” in your unit, please contact Sheila Carney for a time and date for the presentation. Thank you to those of you who have helped us in the journey towards reaching our Friends of Scouting Goal.
The Spring Shooting Sports Camporee will be held the weekend of March 22nd – 24th at Camp Snyder. Registration will be done via the district website. This Camporee is bound to be a good time for all who attend!
Please be sure to visit our district website for updates and news and don’t forget to “like” us on Facebook. If you have any news about your unit you would like to feature on either outlet, please contact Tara McGhee to have your story featured.
Thank you for your continued support of our Scouting Program.
Yours in Scouting,
Kent S. Webber
