March’s Note from the District Chairman

To Scouters,

We are in the process of giving presentations for Friends of Scouting (FOS). To date, we have collected, $19,000.00 for Friends of Scouting from the various Units. Our goal this year is $47,000.00. Last year for the first time in many years, we met our goal of $45,000.00 plus. I congratulate each and every unit for making this possible. So now, we have a new goal. Let’s make it happen. Last year a couple of units didn’t contribute anything. Not a good start. This money is used to help maintain Goshen and Camp Snyder. So we all need to contribute to this. Our Scouter’s Goal was $11, 500.00 and we have met this by 102.%. Good work Scouters.

Re-Chartering continues to be our main objective. We still have several units that need to complete this process. The re-chartering due date was 2/29/2012. So those units that haven’t finished the re-chartering process need to proceed immediately.

I attended the Arrow of Light crossover ceremony last Friday evening for Pack 976 and was impressed that 19 Cub Scouts were crossing over to become Boy Scouts. This was a great ceremony with 220 people in attendance.

We have added a couple of Scouter’s to our District Staff and they will be announced shortly along with our new District Executive. Any Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster looking for something should attend our District Meetings. We are always looking for Troop Commissioners.

Yours in Scouting,

Kent S. Webber
Chairman, Georg Mason District
